The Nunavut Ukpiit Hockey Association (previously Nunavut Fury) is a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to empowering girls’ hockey players across Nunavut.
Ukpiit is here to:
- Empower players to dream big and achieve bigger, both in hockey and in life.
- Highlight the strength and potential of Nunavut’s girl hockey players on every stage.
- Build a legacy of strong, confident leaders who inspire future generations.
Our approach ensures our programs are culturally responsive and geographically relevant. We strive to support the goals of young girls and women across Nunavut through on-ice training and competition, as well as Inuit led holistic wellness focused programming. Through this approach, we aim to build not only better athletes but leaders who drive meaningful change both on and off the ice.
This is about more than hockey—it’s about creating opportunities, celebrating talent, and inspiring a generation of hockey players and leaders across Nunavut.
This name for our girls hockey association reflects Inuit women and girls representation and trailblazing in hockey over the last 35 years in our Territory. Ukpiit (snowy owls) have sharp vision, are fierce defenders, are keen listeners, and they soar! We want our new organization name and logo to represent Nunavut girls and to amplify women and girls soaring in the world of hockey.
